Peach-Vanilla-Brown Sugar Whiskey

My fiance wanted to do something special to ask his friends to be groomsmen in the wedding.  After some brainstorming, we came up with the idea of sending them some homemade infused whiskey.

Infusing alcohol is one of the easiest things you can do.  Just grab a couple ingredients you think are tasty, add some alcohol, let sit, drain, and serve.

For ours, we used some fresh peaches, a couple of scoops of brown sugar, and half a pod of vanilla beans into a mason jar.  It's a very inexact science and I couldn't tell you what our proportions were.  But this is one of those projects that is hard to screw up.  That's why we like it!

After adding our ingredients, we filled the jars to the top with some Jack Daniels and let it sit in a cool dark place for a couple of days--about a week.  We tried to shake them once a day to keep those flavors mixin'.  He opted to ship them off without straining them because they looked pretty.  If you wanted to, all you'd have to do was run it through some cheesecloth to strain out what's left of the peaches and the vanilla pod, then serve over ice.

For Christmas this past year, I made a whole batch of candy cane infused vodka.  I threw a festive ribbon around it, and everyone loved them.

Do you have a recipe you've tried and loved?  Share it in the comments so I can give it a try!
